The Site:
Originally built as a companion to a National Geographic Channel special, the website uses Flash-driven interactives, timelines, and photography to reveal the secrets of the Egyptian pyramids—secret passageways, hidden chambers, and long-lost portals.  A look at the earliest pyramids shows how these engineering marvels evolved from the earliest stepped contructions.

A timeline leads visitors through the history of ancient Egypt, from the prehistoric roots, through the age of pharaohs, to the rule of the Roman emperors.
