Designed and developed for the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Active Explorer app works with its companion website (www.active-explorer.com) to engage young Explorers in citizen science and involved in the environment in their backyards, schoolyards, neighborhoods, and wherever their Quests take them.

While on Quests, Explorers gather photos, maps, drawings, audio, video, and other data, which is sent back to their accounts on the Active Explorer website. There, they can create original SmartWorks—projects such as digital books or comic strips that demonstrate what the Explorers experienced on their Quests and what they learned. 

The free app is available for iOS or Android phones and tablets.
